Patriots get by Jets for eighth win

Tom Brady became the all-time leader in passing yards Sunday afternoon, tossing two touchdown passes to lead the New England Patriots past the New York Jets 27-13 at MetLife Stadium in an AFC East matchup.

Josh McGown helped open the scoring in the first quarter, hitting Jermaine Kearse for a 16 yard scoring play to make it 7-0 Jets. New England (8-3) responded going 85 yards in just five plays, culminating with a Brady 34 yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski to make it 7-7. For Gronkowski it was his first touchdown since week 1. The two teams swapped second quarter field goals to make it 10-10 at the half.

After again swapping field goals in the third quarter, New England jumped ahead by seven later in the third when Brady hit Julian Edelman for a 21 yard score to make it 20-13. The Patriots added a short touchdown run by Sony Michel in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Brady finished 20-31 passing, 283 yards, and two touchdowns. Michel rushed 21 times for 133 yards. Edelman had four catches for 84 yards, Josh Gordon had five for 70 yards, and Gronk added three for 56 yards. Patrick Chung had 13 total tackles to lead the defense, while Stephon Gilmore added an interception. McGown went 26-45 passing for the 3-8 Jets, for 276 yards, with one touchdown, and one interception. The Patriots had 498 total yards of offense, and held the Jets to 74 rushing yards while churning out 215 yards on the ground themselves.

New England returns home to Gillette Stadium to host the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday at 4:25 pm.
