Schenck defeats Shead in class D girls quarterfinal

BANGOR– The Schenck Wolverines went on a 13-0 to end the first quarter and rolled to a 56-38 win over Shead in a Maine Principals’ Association Class D girls basketball game played Monday evening at the Cross Insurance Center.

The Wolverines held a 20-6 lead after the first eight minutes behind seven points from Julia Stanley. Schenck went 9-10 from the free throw line in the first half and had a 31-12 halftime lead.

Samantha Falone scored nine of her game high 15 points in the second half. The Wolverines had three players finish in double figures. Stanley and Cassie Russell had 12 points each. Laura Cote put in seven points. Falone and Cote each grabbed five rebounds. Schenck (13-6) will take on Southern Aroostook in a semifinal game on Thursday night at 8:35 PM.

Madison Greenlaw led the Tigerettes with eight points and five rebounds. Shead finishes the season with a 9-10 record.
