BANGOR, Maine- The top seeded Woodland Dragons used an 18-0 first quarter run and led by as many as 50 points Monday afternoon, in rolling over #8 seed Van Buren 76-29 in a Maine Principals’ Association Class D boys quarterfinal at the Cross Insurance Center.
Woodland (17-1) led 23-5 after one quarter, and scored the first 15 points of the second quarter and took a 42-9 lead into the half. The Dragons widened to their largest lead at 76-26 late in the fourth quarter and put four players in double figures, in marching to a semifinal date with Schenck Thursday at 3:35 pm.
Chris Plissey led the way for Woodland with 15 points (including 3 three-pointers). Alex Morrison had 13 points and five rebounds, also knocking down three shots from behind the arc, as the Dragons hit 11 of those in the game. Gavin Gardner and Sabre Phelps also chipped in 11 points and five rebounds each. Woodland put 10 of their 12 players on the scoresheet, with all 12 players seeing time on the floor in the win. Luc Perreault led Van Buren with 17 points. The Crusaders finish their season at 10-9.
