NBA Blockbuster trade: Davis departs from New Orleans

June 15, 2019

NBA free agency has officially started. In a blockbuster trade Saturday evening, the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to trade superstar forward Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers.

As first reported by ESPN analyst Adrian Wojnarowski the Lakers will send Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart along with three first round draft picks including the fourth pick of this years draft to the Pelicans in exchange for Davis. The trade cannot be finalized until July 6. Davis averaged 25 points per game and 10 rebounds in the 2018-19 season.

The Los Angeles Lakers odds to win next years NBA title changed drastically on news Davis would joining Lebon James in Los Angeles, now having the best odds to win it all next season at 7-2 according to Caesars Sportsbook in Las Vegas. There had been talk that the Boston Celtics may be in the running for the All-NBA forward, but it is obvious that the asking price to make it happen became too much. Reports add that Boston would not include Jayson Tatum in the deal, something the Pelicans asked for.
