Husson names new baseball coach

August 12, 2019

Almost exactly a month after 12 year head baseball coach Jason Harvey resigned his position at Husson University, the Eagles announced Monday afternoon they have hired a familiar face as the new head coach.

Chris Morris (Class of 2010) was named the new man in charge as announced by Director of Athletics Frank Pergolizzi. Morris was a four year letter winner and team captain in his playing career with Husson baseball, and also lettered twice in football. He coached under Harvey as the pitching coach in 2012, and also served as wide receivers coach for football in 2013 and defensive backs coach in 2014.

Morris was also an assistant coach after leaving Husson with MIT from 2015-2018. He helped lead the Engineers to the ECAC championship in 2016. He went on to Brandeis University as a baseball assistant and recruiting coordinator in 2018. Also in the past four summers Morris has been coaching in the New England Collegiate Baseball League with the Sanford Mainers. He started out as pitching coach and then was promoted to head coach in 2016 where he led the team to the NECBL Northern Division Title. That season he was named the 2016 Joel Cooney Manager of the Year. He takes over a Husson program that mostly recently won the North Atlantic Conference Tournament Title in 2019. Morris is a native of Hampden, Maine and after four years of living in Massachusetts he returns to the area with his wife and son. He is also the nephew of Bangor High baseball coach Dave Morris.
