October 4th update. Kent State was allowed to do their own investigation and found no wrong doing. Not sure why am independent source didn’t do the investigation.
The University of Maine field hockey team was scheduled to play a game against Temple at Kent State on Saturday morning. The game did get underway. With the game scoreless and the teams getting ready for a second overtime, Kent State administrators called off the game. The game was ruled no contest.
The game wasn’t called because of weather, darkness, or any other reasonable reason you could think of. The game was called because Kent State had a football game at noon.
Well… that’s a new one.
Today’s game at @KentState has been declared a “no contest” after Kent State administration came onto the field prior to the second overtime half and called off the game to allow the noontime Kent football game to begin on time.

It was around 10:45 AM, 75 minutes before kickoff . It was called so the empty football stadium could watch pre game fireworks. This is a clear Title IX violation.
Title IX: let’s not discriminate athletics and sports on the basis of sex

Below is what Title IX states.
“Title IX states that: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
There are a lot of other things going on in the sports world, but this should be a top story on all the major networks.
All this AB stuff shouldn’t distract you from the fact that Kent State forced a college field hockey game to end in a No Contest so they could safely shoot off fireworks for a noon football game in a different stadium

Wow. @kentstate should need to answer to a whole lot of people about this. Absolutely unacceptable. https://t.co/pLWe3MDeqW

Title IX complaints and treating field hockey coaches and players poorly isn’t a new thing at Kent State.
Someone in the national media should look into whether or not there was ALREADY a formal complaint filed with the EEOC filed months ago by a former @KentState field hockey coach because of treatment of women. Just one more case of @KentStAthletics Title IX failures. https://t.co/IVYX1X6L51
