Garrett Poussard rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns Saturday afternoon as the Husson Eagles opened up league play in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 28-12 football win over Becker College at Alumni Field in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Husson (1-3, 1-0 CCC) outscored the home Becker Hawks 14-0 in the second half to break open what was a two point game at halftime. Patrick Cullen opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 30 yard touchdown reception from David Morrison to put the Eagles up 7-0. Just over 4:30 later the Hawks responded with a 10 yard touchdown run by Randy Morgan. The two point conversion failed and Husson held a one point lead. Tyler Halls caught Morrisons second touchdown throw of the game in the second quarter from 15 yards to extend to an eight point lead, but exactly 4:30 later Alpha Berry caught a score from quarterback Mac Kimball that went 29 yards for Becker. The two point conversion again failed and Husson led 14-12 at the break.

Poussard would score on runs of 14 and 6 yards early in the third quarter and fourth quarter respectively and the Husson defense did the rest to earn the conference opening win and first win of 2019. Becker drops to 2-3, 0-2.

Morrison finished the day 14-18 passing in the Husson win for 146 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. Poussard had 31 carries for the big day on the ground.
