October 12, 2019

Bangor,ME- The Husson University Football team (2-3, 2-0 CCC) defeated the Curry College Colonels (1-4, 1-1) 42-40 Saturday afternoon at the Winkin Sports Complex in a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup. The Eagles were led by a balanced offensive attack.

1st Quarter- The Eagles started the game off with a bang when Shawn Noel Jr. took the opening kickoff 81 yards for the first score of the game to make it 7-0. The Colonels responded right back when on the first play from scrimmage Nick Juvelier found Nick Villanueva for an 80 yard receiving touchdown. A missed extra point kept the score 7-6. The Eagles on the next drive would score again when QB David Morrison connected with Aidan Hogan for a 33 yard TD to give the Eagles a 14-6 advantage. The Colonels came right back again when Juvelier hit D’Aundray Burcy for a 33 yard score. The two point conversion was no good still giving the Eagles a 14-12 lead. The final score of the 1st quarter was a 24 yard touchdown reception from Morrison to Keyshaun Robinson to give the Eagles a 21-12 lead.

2nd Quarter- Both offenses cooled down in the 2nd quarter as each team found some trouble moving the ball as each defense picked up the intensity. The only score being a 25 yard touchdown run from Noel Jr to increase the Eagle lead to 28-12 headed to halftime.

3rd Quarter- Curry found the end zone first in the 2nd half when Jason Cambra caught a pass from Junvelier for a 7 yard TD, once again the 2 point try was no good closing the Eagles lead to 28-18. 5 minutes later, David Morrison would run the ball himself for a 22 yard score to increase the lead to 35-18. Like the 1st quarter, Curry responded with a 9 yard touchdown pass from Juvelier to Alex Rosemond, this time the Colonels converted the 2 point try to bring the score to 35-26.

4th Quarter- Shawn Noel Jr. pounded a 2 yard score just 2:29 into the 4th quarter to increase the Husson lead again to 42-26. Curry less than 30 seconds later scored again when Juvelier hit Villanueva for a 35 yard touchdown after a penalty set them up at the Husson 35 yard line, the two point attempt was good to close the gap to 42-34. Husson looked to have the game wrapped up with 3:30 to go in the game, until the Colonels defense stripped Noel Jr. and recovered the fumble to give themselves a chance. It only took 1:33 to get within 2 points when Zach Levy ran for a 42 yard touchdown with 1:57 to go. Nick Juvlier was tackled one yard short on the game tying two point conversion attempt. The Eagles recovered the onside kick to seal the win.
