The Maine Principals’ Association field hockey state championship games were played Saturday afternoon at Messalonskee high school.
In game one, the Foxcroft Academy Ponies got three goals from Maranda Poulin and cruised to a 3-0 win over Winthrop in the class C game. It is the fourth state championship for the Ponies and first since 2013.
In game two, Winslow outscored York 4-0 in the second half and rolled to a 7-2 win over York in the class B game. Silver Clukey and Sage Clukey had two goals each for the Black Raiders. It is the seventh state title for Winslow and first since 2002.
In the finale, Skowhegan scores three second half goals and defeated Biddeford 3-0 to claim their 19th state title overall and 16th in the last 19 years. It was the 19th straight state championship appearance for Skowhegan. Emily Reichenbach had two goals while Alexis Michonski had one goal and one assist.
