Lawrence high school 2019/2020 boys basketball preview

December 4, 2019

Sport: Lawrence Boys’ Basketball (Class A North)

Coach: Jason Pellerin (7th season)

2018/2019 record: 13-8 (Lost in Class A State Championship)

Strengths: “We appear to be a physical, athletic team that likes to compete.” Pellerin said

Challenges: Graduated five senior starters and seven seniors overall from last year’s team. “The challenge will be players stepping into new roles and handling those new roles given the ups and downs of games and the season in general.” Pellerin said

Top returning players: Dylan Martin-Hachey (Sr.), Jake Patterson (Sr.), Mack Huard (Sr.), Dylan Coombes (Jr.), Zach Nickerson (Jr.)

Top newcomers: Nic Blaisdell (Jr.), Kristian Larouche (Jr.), Ryan Bourque (Jr.), Cade Scott (So.), Andrew Trombley (So.), Matthew Trombley (So., Trey Goodwin (So.)

Biggest challenges in your league/on your schedule: There are 5 teams in our conference with a lot of returning players, and several of those teams had postseason successes. Our defensive intensity and physicality is going to have to go a long way in helping us break into that top five either during the season or in the playoffs.

Outlook: The Bulldogs will improve as the season goes on and could be very dangerous come late January.
