Strong Second Half Lifts Husson Women’s Basketball Over Lyndon

Bangor, ME- The Husson University women’s basketball team (2-4, 1-0 NAC) defeated the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon Hornets(1-5, 0-1) 61-40 in the North Atlantic Conference opener at the Newman Gym Saturday evening.

The Hornets started the game out strong, out playing the Eagles to a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles would turn around their cold shooting to turn the tide and outscore the Hornets 22-8 in the second quarter and go into halftime leading 30-23.

The Eagles would build on the momentum from the second quarter and would gradually pull away in the third and fourth quarters to win the home opener. The Eagles were lead by Freshman Bailey Donovan with 12 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Sydney Allen would contribute 10 points and two assists. Freshman Cassie Urso added nine points, all from behind the 3-point arc. Junior Emma Alley also had nine points and three assists for the Eagles.

The Hornets were lead by Alissa Mitchell with 11 points and eight rebounds, and Shaylan Mosher who added nine points and five rebounds.

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow at 12pm to host NVU Johnson.

The Hornets travel to take on Maine Maritime tomorrow afternoon.
