Kobe Gilbert named Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 317 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 11 Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Kobe Gilbert averaged 26.7 points in leading the PCHS Pirates to a 2-1 week. It is the second athlete of the week honor for Gilbert who was named AOW on October 7th . Gilbert edged out Myles Brown (Deer Isle-Stonington) and Keegan Gentle (Houlton) in the voting for the week.

  • Kobe Gilbert – PCHS – Basketball- recorded 26 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, and four steals in 77-53 win over Bangor Christian. Had 31 points (7 three pointers) and six assists in 72-64 loss to Central. Scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 58-49 loss to Dexter. Recorded 23 points, seven rebounds, and six steals in 65-59 win over Penquis.

Runner up

  • Keegan Gentle- Houlton- Basketball- scored 30 points, including his 1000 career point in 66-62 loss to Ellsworth. Had 28 points in 73-62 loss to Caribou. Had 22 points in 59-49 win over Central Aroostook.

Other nominations

  • Myles Brown- Deer Isle-Stonington- Basketball – scored 22 points (5 three pointers) in 82-38 win over Searsport. Scored 22 points (3 three pointers in 73-56 win over Bucksport. Had 27 points on 9 three pointers in 83-34 win over Isleboro. 
  • Andy Raye – Hamdpen – Basketball- game high 22 points (5 three-pointers) in 79-62 win over Cony. 
  • TJ Henaghen – Hampden- Basketball- recorded 21 points, six rebounds, and two blocks in 79-62 win over Cony.
  • Simon Allen- Central- Basketball- scored 26 points in 72-64 win over PCHS. Had 16 points in 64-59 loss to Stearns. 
  • Scottie Ferrie- Central- Basketball- scored 25 points in 72-64 win over PCHS. Scored 20 points in 54-42 win over Penquis. Had 13 points in 64-59 loss to Stearns. 
  • Robbie Dorman- Dexter- Basketball- recorded 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in 58-49 win over PCHS. 
  • Jackson Curtis- Ellsworth- Basketball- scored 29 points in 72-41 win over Orono. Had 21 points and 12 rebounds in 66-62 win over Houlton 
  • Alex Tash- PVHS- Basketball- scored 18 points in 53-35 win over Greenville.
  • Logan Martin- Foxcroft – Basketball- scored 31 points in 70-58 win over Belfast.
