DEXTER, Maine- Robbie Dorman led three players in double figures with a team high 17 points Friday night to help improve the Dexter Tigers to 10-0 with a 60-43 win over the Central Red Devils at Ed Guiski Gymnasium in Class C North boys basketball action.
Dexter (10-0) scored the first four points for an early lead, before Central went on a 10-2 run to take their only lead of the game 10-6. The Tigers would score six of the final eight points and the teams headed to the second quarter tied 12-12. The second quarter was where the game was won. The hosts went on a 17-2 run helped by three 3-pointers from Dorman to go up 29-14, and led at halftime 31-17.
Dexter continued to extend the lead in the third building their biggest lead at 45-27. Central (7-3) though would use a 9-1 run starting at the end of the third quarter to early in the fourth capped off with an Alex Hewitt three-pointer to cut it to 46-36 with 5:59 left. That is as close as the Red Devils would get, despite having several chances to get it within single digits. The Tigers regained control and scored 14 of the final 21 points in the game.
Dorman had four 3-pointers to lead the way in the Dexter win. Brett Kusnierz added 13 points (three 3-pointers), while Nathan Richards finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Haedyn Guenther had seven points, Cameron Paige had six, Will Kusnierz had four, while Avery Gagnon also had two points. The Tigers play host to PCHS Monday night. Scott Ferrie had 17 points to lead Central in the loss. Hewitt added 12, while Simon Allen had 10 points. Chandler Willard added four points and four rebounds. The Red Devils are at Mattanawcook on Monday night.
