Dexter boys basketball improves to 11-0 with win over PCHS

DEXTER- The Dexter Tigers jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back in a 62-37 win over PCHS on Monday night at Ed Guiski Gymnasium.

Dexter had five different scorers in the first quarter, led by Nate Richards with seven. Kobe Gilbert put in nine for the Pirates in the first eight minutes as Dexter held a 21-14 lead. The Tigers outscored PCHS 11-2 in the second quarter to take a 32-16 lead at intermission.

The Tigers outscored PCHS 30-21 in the second half. Gilbert led the Pirates with 15 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Colby Chadwick added five points, five rebounds, and three steals. Carter Starbird had four points, Isaiah Conary and Wayne Haley put in three points each. Caleb Bailey, Buddy Hutchins, and Preston Ricker each had two points. Trevor Hathorn made one free throw. PCHS (4-7) will play at Penquis on Wednesday night.

Dexter had five players with at least eight points. Richards led the way with 16 points (2 three pointers), five steals, four rebounds, and three assists. Brett Kusnierz had 12 points (4 three pointers) and seven rebounds. Parker Ponte had nine points. Haedyn Geunther and Robbie Dorman had eight points each. Geunther also had nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Cameron Paige added four points and four rebounds. Will Kusnierz had three points, while Seth Robbins and Avery Gagnon each had one point. Dexter (11-0) will host Mattanawcook on Wednesday.

Dexter shot 6-12 from the free throw line, while PCHS shot 3-9. The Tigers out rebounded the Pirates 31-24.
