Kobe Gilbert earns third Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 319 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had nine Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Kobe Gilbert averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and six assists to help the PCHS Pirates go 2-1 during the week. Gilbert edged out Bryce Lausier (Hampden) who went over 1000 career points and hit a game winning shot in a win over Brewer and last weeks winner Myles Brown (Deer Isle-Stonington) in the voting. It is the third athlete of the week honor for Gilbert.

  • Kobe Gilbert- PCHS- basketball – recorded 42 Points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in 78-67 win. Had 16 points and 11 rebounds in 49-42 win over Bangor Christian. Recorded 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 61-49 loss to Greenville. 

Runner up

  • Bryce Lausier- Hamdpen- scored 32 points, including his 1000 career point and the game winning shot with 10 seconds left in 57-56 win over Brewer.

Other nominations

  • Nate Richards- Dexter – basketball- recorded 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks in 69-31 win over Penquis. 
  • Aaron Newcomb- Brewer- basketball- scored 20 points, including 4 three pointers in 67-33 win over Nokomis.
  • Caleb Crocker- Foxcroft- basketball- had 23 points, including 5 three pointers in 70-55 win over Orono.
  • Logan Martin- Foxcroft- basketball- had 22 points, including 3 three pointers in 70-55 win over Orono. 
  • Myles Brown – Deer Isle Stonington – basketball- recorded 28 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in a hard fought 79-63 loss against undefeated Jonesport Beals. Recorded 24 points, eight rebounds, six steals, and fiverebounds in 70-62 win over Sumner. 
  • Owen Williams- MCI- basketball- had 22 points and 11 rebounds in 64-53 win over Winslow. 
  • Coleman Brown- Deer Isle-Stonington- basketball- recorded 25 points, 16 rebounds, and two steals in 70-62 win over Sumner.
