Lausier helps Hampden cruise past Medomak to stay unbeaten

HAMPDEN, Maine- Bryce Lausier scored a game high 32 points and the Hampden Academy Broncos hit 12 three-pointers, en route to a convincing 80-61 Class A North boys basketball win over Medomak Valley at the Stable on Friday night.

Hampden (15-0) took over from the start and never trailed scoring the first six points. Medomak didn’t score their first basket until Trevor Brown got one to go in the post nearly four minutes into action. The Broncos led 16-6 after the first eight minutes. The hosts opened the second quarter on a 16-2 run to take their biggest lead to that point at 32-8. They held the lead into halftime 39-17.

Hampden Academy broke things wide open in the third quarter, showing their excellent ball movement to find wide open shooters. The Broncos hit 6 three-pointers in the eight minutes, and built their biggest lead of the night when Travis Czapiga came off the bench to hit one from long distance to make it 63-30. Lausier continued his great night by scoring 13 in the period as Hampden led 64-36 at the end of three. Medomak (12-3) never got the lead inside of 20 until the last possession of the game.

Lausier added 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks to his point total in the Hampden win. Andy Raye and Brayden Cole each had 11 points. Mikey Raye added nine points and seven rebounds. Landon Gabric and TJ Henneghen each had seven points, while Czapiga finished with three. The Broncos play at Gardiner next Saturday. Gabe Allaire hit 6 three-pointers and had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for Medomak Valley. Brown finished with 12 points. Patrick McKenney had nine points. Aiden Starr added seven points, Parker Morrison had six, and Carson Murphy, Brandon Starr, Jake Bickmore, and Michael Simmons had two points each. The Panthers host Nokomis on Tuesday.
