Postgame interviews – Michael Brown, Bryce Richards, and Garrett Libby
BANGOR– It is not often that a 12 seed makes the semifinals. Old Town will do just that after a 47-42 win over Hermon in a class B boys basketball quarterfinal game played at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday afternoon.
It is the third win in the last week in a game where if the Coyotes lost their season would have been over. They defeated Orono last Saturday to qualify for the tournament. They went to fifth seeded Houlton and won a prelim game on Wednesday.
The Hawks held a 15-11 after the first quarter behind seven points from Isaac Parent in the quarter. Old Town ended the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 24-21 halftime lead.

After the Coyotes scored the first bucket of the second half, Hermon scored the next six points to take a 27-26 lead. That would be the last lead for the Hawks as Old Town followed that with a 11-3 run. Michael Brown went 3-5 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help secure the Coyotes win.
Jaeden Henderson led the Hawks with 15 points and two assists. Parent added seven points, while Wyatt Gogan had six points and seven rebounds. Hermon finishes the season with a 13-7 record.
Shawn Hoogterp led the Coyotes with 15 points (all in the first half) and four rebounds. Bryce Richards added eight points and three steals. Brown also had eight points. Old Town (11-9) will play in a semifinal game on Wednesday night at 8:30 PM.
