BANGOR– Bre Bradbury and Libby Grass combined for 15 fourth quarter points to lead Central Aroostook to a 45-41 win over Fort Fairfield in a Class C girls quarterfinal game played Tuesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
Maci Beals gave the Panthers a lead of 7-5 with 2:10 left in the first quarter. Central Aroostook would hold the lead the rest of the way despite the Tigers cutting the deficit to two (34-32) early in the fourth quarter. Grass made two free throws with 4:06 remaining and followed that with a three pointer with 3:41 remaining to expand the lead to 39-32. Grass and Bradbury combined to go 8-14 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help the Panthers secure the win.
Camryn Ala and Amber Sherwood led the Tigers with nine points each. Fort Fairfield ends the season 17-3 with all three losses coming against Central Aroostook.
Grass led the Panthers with 14 points (eight in 4th quarter). Bradbury filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Beals added nine points, five rebounds, and two assists. Central Aroostook (16-4) will play Dexter in a semifinal game on Friday afternoon at 2:05.
