May 18, 2020

Brewer High Athletic Director David Utterback announced on Monday night at the Brewer School committee meeting that Scott Flagg has been named new head coach of the varsity football team, beginning with the fall 2020 season. Flagg takes over the program from Nick Arthurs, who had led the Witches for the past six years before resigning after the 2019 season.

Flagg is a Occupational Therapist at the Brewer Community School, and has been in the Brewer football program for the past four seasons first as coach of the grade seven and eight youth teams in 2016 and 2017 and also a spotter for the varsity team. The last two seasons he was added to the varsity team on a full time basis as an assistant coach. Flagg also has head coaching experience at Hampden Academy with their football program in 2015 after four years as an assistant for the Broncos, and before that at Gray-New Gloucester for four seasons as head boys basketball coach.
