Craig Smith scored a game winning second period goal, and Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron added two more goals each Saturday night as the Boston Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-1 at TD Garden in Boston. After a shootout win over Philly Thursday night, Boston picks up all four points in the two game mini series.
Smith scored his first goal as a Bruin, after Kevin Hayes had tied the game 1:16 earlier. Bergeron had staked Boston (3-1-1) to a 1-0 lead with a first period powerplay goal. After the Smith marker Coyle scored at 17:50 of the second to make it 3-1, and then in the third Marchand had an even strength goal and a powerplay goal and Bergeron added another with the extra man. The hosts went 3-4 on the powerplay on the night. Jaroslav Halak earned the win in net with 16 saves, and Marchand and Bergeron both had two goals and an assist while Nick Ritchie was also a multiple point scorer with two assists. The Bruins who went 220 minutes, 57 seconds without an even strength goal now have scored seven of those in the last 79:03. Philadelphia (3-2-1) got a Jake Voracek assist on the Hayes goal, and Carter Hart made 20 saves in the loss. Boston will host Pittsburgh Tuesday night.
