Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 326 past athlete of the week winners.
This week we had four Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Peyton Grant averaged 32.7 points in leading Dexter to three wins. Grant also averaged five assists and three steals despite only averaging three quarters of playing time in the three games. It is the 8th athlete of the week honor for Grant. She is only the seventh (fourth female) student/athlete to be named athlete of the week at least eight times. She joins Kolleen Bouchard (19) (Houlton), Leine McKechnie (13) (PVHS), Lexi Ireland (9) (PVHS), Taylor Schildroth (9) (George Stevens), Bryce Gilbert (9) (PCHS), and Justin Thompson (9) (Schenck). Emily Curtis from Woodland finished as runner up. Curtis went over the 1000 career point mark this past week.

- Peyton Grant- Dexter- basketball- had 34 points, six assists, and four steals in 74-42 win over MCI. Had 30 points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals in 66-24 win over PCHS. Had 36 points in 73-33 win over Central.
Runner up
- Emily Curtis- Woodland- basketball- had 24 points (including 1000 career point), 12 rebounds, and two assists in 51-19 win over Narraguagus.
Other nominations
- Jozlynn Paige- Dexter- basketball- had 20 points in 74-42 win over MCI. Had 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals in 66-24 win over PCHS.
- Rylee Eaton – Deer Isle Stonington- Basketball- Recorded 18 Points, 7 Steals, 5 Rebounds, and 3 Assists in 77-14 win over Bucksport.
