The Boston Bruins are becoming the comeback kings in the NHL. Down again in the third period, this time 1-0 to the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston got a game winning goal from Sean Kuraly to pick up a 2-1 win at the Wells Fargo Center.
In a scoreless game, Philadelphia (7-3-2) went up 1-0 when James van Reimsdyk tipped home a Erik Gustafsson point shot on the powerplay just 27 seconds into the third period. Boston (8-1-2) would tie it when Brad Marchand knocked home a loose puck in the crease at 12:01, his seventh of the season. The game winner from Kuraly came just 27 seconds later, walking into a slapshot off a drop pass from just inside the blue line and ringing one off the post and in. The Bruins have now beaten the Flyers in all four meetings so far this season, and have now rallied from a deficit in the third period to at least force overtime in four straight games. It also marks eight straight games now for the B’s with at least one point.
Tuuka Rask stopped 23 of 24 shots in net to pick up the win for Boston, while Brian Elliott had 21 saves in the loss. The Bruins were 0-2 on the powerplay, while the Flyers went 1-5. The next time the two teams meet will be an outside game at Lake Tahoe on February 21. Boston now leads the East Divison by two points over Philadelphia. Next up for the Black and Gold will be two games in New York against the Rangers next Wednesday and Friday night.
