The Husson Eagles opened up a 26 point halftime lead on Friday night, and cruised to a 77-41 women’s basketball win over the Thomas College Terriers at Newman Gym in Bangor.
Husson opened the game with seven straight points and a 19-2 run, taking a 21-6 lead after the opening 10 minutes. It was more of the same in the second quarter and the Eagles would build a 39-13 halftime advantage. The hosts would have their biggest lead of 41 late in the fourth quarter, and improve to 2-0 on the season.
Sydney Allen led the way in the win with 17 points and six rebounds. Sophomore center Bailey Donovan filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 14 rebounds, two steals, and five blocked shots. Katherine Alley came off the bench and contributed 13 points and five rebounds. Another former Hampden Academy standout, freshman Alydia Brilliant, led Thomas (0-1) with 17 points. The Terriers will have their home opener on Saturday when Husson travels to Waterville for a 2 p.m. tip.
