After allowing five goals in the third period in a 7-2 loss on Long Island to the New York Islanders Thursday night, the New York Rangers scored three second period goals Friday night to send the Boston Bruins to their second straight loss with a 6-2 win at Madison Square Garden.

Julien Gauthier started the scoring with a first period goal at 13:16 to make it 1-0 New York. The Rangers doubled the lead when Ryan Strome scored at 2:32 of the second, before Patrice Bergeron got Boston on the board 1:30 later. The home team took over from there though as Colin Blackwell scored on the powerplay at 18:52, and Chris Kreider made it 4-1 just 12 seconds after the Blackwell marker. Pavel Buchnevich and Jonny Brodzinski scored 1:58 apart early in the third to seal the Bruins fate. Brad Marchand did get his 10th of the season for Boston at 7:51 of the final period to finish the scoring, dropping the B’s record to 11-5-2.

Tuuka Rask made 28 saves in the loss, and David Pastrnak was the only multiple point scorer for Boston with two assists. Alexander Georgiev made 31 saves in the New York win, as the Rangers record moves to 7-8-3. Strome had three points (one goal, two assists) to lead the winners. The teams finish off their two game mini series on Sunday at 12 p.m.
