The Boston College Eagles got two goals from Jaime Natale Sunday afternoon to defeat the Maine Black Bears 5-3 in non-conference field hockey action at the BC Field Hockey Complex in Newton, Massachusetts.
In the opener of the spring season for both teams, the host Eagles opened up the scoring at the 1:47 mark of the first quarter from Natale to make it 1-0. Tereza Holubcova evened it for Maine at 9:20. Elizabeth Warner gave BC the lead for good late in the first half scoring with just 1:36 to go to make it 2-1 at the half. Nell Webber made it 3-1 early in the third quarter, and then Natale scored her second and eventual game winner at 8:25 to make it 4-1. The Black Bears hit the scoreboard again early in the fourth quarter on a first career goal by Madisyn Hartley (MCI). Margo Carlin answered that one though to make it 5-2 just 17 seconds later. Chloe Walton finished the scoring on the day with the Black Bears third tally with just 2:49 left.
Mia Borley had 11 saves in the cage for Maine in the loss. All three Black Bear goals came unassisted. Natale had the two goals and also an assist, while Webber had a goal and one assist as well to lead Boston College. Jonna Kennedy made five saves in net. Maine is now off until March 19 when they open up America East play with a trip to UMass-Lowell.
