Bruins and Celtics split Tuesday night games

At PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the Boston Bruins got a game winning third period goal by Trent Frederic and 34 saves from Dan Vladar to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1.

David Pastrnak had a first period powerplay goal for the other Boston tally on the night. Vladar earned his first NHL win. The Bruins (15-8-4) got a W for just the second time in six games. Brandon Tanev had the goal for Pittsburgh (18-10-1), as they have their six game win streak snapped. Casey DeSmith made 31 saves. Boston is at Buffalo Thursday night.

At TD Garden in Boston, the Utah Jazz got 21 points from Donovan Mitchell and 20 from Jordan Clarkson to pull away late for a 117-109 win over the Boston Celtics.

Six players scored in double figures for Utah (29-10), as they put up 40 points as a team in the fourth quarter. Jayson Tatum had 29 points and Jaylen Brown had 28 for Boston (20-19). The Celtics are in Cleveland Wednesday night to battle the Cavaliers.
