The Fordham Rams completed a four game weekend sweep Sunday, beating the Maine Black Bears 5-2 and 9-3 in a pair of non-conference softball games in Bronx, New York.
In game one, Izzy Nieblas had a solo homerun and Maddie Kimble had an RBI single for Maine but it wasn’t enough as Fordham got three RBI from Sarah Taffet to take their third straight on the weekend. Lilly Volk (0-1) took the loss in the circle for the Black Bears allowing five runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings.
In the second game, the visiting Black Bears took a 3-1 lead in the fourth on solo homers from Mariah Pearson and Amanda Nee but the Rams scored eight runs over their final three times at the plate to take the four game sweep. A bases loaded walk in the fifth inning proved to be the difference. Gabbie Siciliano (0-2) took the pitching loss for Maine allowing six earned runs on nine hits in 4.1 innings. Fordham improved their record to 10-3.
The Bears, now 1-7 and losers of five straight games, are scheduled to be at Central Connecticut State for a doubleheader on Saturday.
