Maine women’s soccer shutout at UMass-Lowell

The University of Massachusetts-Lowell Riverhawks scored a pair of first half goals Sunday afternoon to defeat the Maine Black Bears 2-0 in America East women’s soccer action at Cushing Field in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Marissa Saucedo had the tally that turned out to be the game winner on an assist by Anna Edson at 33:56. Saucedo then added an assist when Rakel Stefansdottir added insurance at the 40:11 mark.

Kira Kutzinski made six saves in the Maine net in the loss, as the Black Bears drop to 0-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in America East. Taylor Burgess stopped all eight shots for the Riverhawks, as they improve their record to 3-1-1, 2-0 AE. Maine was shutout for the fourth time in five matches in this spring season, and will be at Stony Brook next Sunday at 1 p.m.
