The Husson Eagles softball team made it 10 consecutive wins on Sunday sweeping a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader over the University of Maine-Farmington both by the mercy rule in five innings 8-0 and 10-0 at O’Keefe Field in Bangor.
In the first game a Kenzie Dore RBI single in the first inning is all Husson needed. Katie Raymond had three hits, while Syndey Ames, Morgan Coleman, Jen Jones, Erin Bonenfant, and Katie Windsor all had two a piece. The two from Coleman both were solo homeruns. Jones (7-0) won in the circle only allowing two hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
In the second game the Eagles used a seven run fourth inning to win their sixth consecutive game via the mercy rule. Dore had two hits and three RBI including a two run homer, Ames two hits and two RBI, and Madelyn Fowler also added two hits. Ames (8-1) picked up the 5.0 inning no hitter, walking two and striking out three.
Husson is now 17-1, 10-0 in the North Atlantic Conference. UMF falls to 1-11, 1-9 NAC. The teams played another doubleheader on Monday in Bangor beginning at 3 p.m.
