The Boston Red Sox got an RBI each from five different players on Sunday, and Eduardo Rodriguez picked up his fourth win of the season as they picked up a split of a four game series with a 5-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park.
Seattle (13-9) took an early lead on on RBI double by Ty France in the top of the first inning, but Boston got all they needed in the bottom half. Christian Vazquez had an RBI single, and then Hunter Renfroe and Marwin Gonzalez both worked bases loaded walks to make it 3-1 Sox. Christian Arroyo ended up with the game winner as he was hit by a pitch with the bases still loaded. Xander Bogaerts extended the lead with an RBI double in the bottom of the second, before Tom Murphy and J.P. Crawford sliced into the lead with RBI doubles in the fifth that ended the scoring on the day.
Rodriguez (4-0) went 7.0 innings allowing three runs on six hits with no walks and eight strikeouts. Adam Ottavino pitched the eighth for his fourth hold on the season, while Matt Barnes worked a perfect ninth for his fourth save. JD Martinez had two hits and was the only hitter in the game with multiple hits. Nick Margevicius (0-2) only lasted 1/3 of an inning taking the loss allowing four runs on two hits for Seattle. Boston is now 14-9 and starts a two game interleague series with the New York Mets in New York Tuesday night.
