Foxcroft jumps out quick in baseball win over Central

DOVER-FOXCROFT— Jack Caruso and Donnie Poole combined for five hits and five RBI to lead the Foxcroft Ponies to a 12-2 win over Central in five innings on Monday afternoon.

The Ponies got things started quickly with five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Chase Higgins, Caruso, and Poole each had run scoring hits. The Red Devils committed two errors in the first inning leading to four unearned runs

The Ponies added one run in the second inning and three more in third to extend the lead to 9-0. While the offense kept piling on, Anthony Smith was taking care of things on the mound for the Ponies.

The Red Devils had opportunities early in the game, including a second and third no out situation in the second inning. Smith made the big pitch when it was needed. Central left seven on base, including two in each of the first three innings.

Each player in the Ponies batting order had at least a hit or run scored. Caruso led the attack with three hits and three RBI. Pooler and Barrett Knapp each had two hits and two RBI.

The bottom of the Ponies order (Noah Lamb, Caruso, and Pooler) reached base eight times in nine plate appearances. The other plate appearance resulted in a sacrifice fly from Pooler that scored Lamb.

Higgins reached base three times and scored three runs. Luke Stedman had two RBI. Jadon Richard walked twice and scored a run. Gideon Topoloski scored two runs. Smith allowed two runs on five hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out four. Foxcroft (6-5) will host Old Town on Tuesday

Ivan Tibbets, Scott Ferrie, Bryce Burns, Simon Allen, and Benjamin Speed each had one hit for the Red Devils. Hunter Weeks and Ferrie each had one RBI. Tibbets and Noah Kepple each scored a run. Ferrie took the loss on the mound, allowing nine runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks, while striking out one in 2.1 innings. Central (6-4) will host Bucksport on Tuesday.
