Ana Lang earns second straight female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 337 past athlete of the week winners.

This week we had three Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations.  Ana Lang stuck out 35 in two games. Lang threw a no-hitter with 19 strikeouts to help Searsport defeat previously undefeated Stearns.  It is the second straight athlete of the week honor for Lang.

Female athlete of the week- May 17th- May 22nd

  • Ana Lang, – Searsport- softball-  threw a no hitter with 19 strikeouts in 6-0 win over previously undefeated Stearns. Lang allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits, didn’t issue any walks and struck out 16 in 3-2 loss to Central.

Runner up

  • Jaycie Christopher – Skowhegan- softball- had three doubles and two RBI in 11-0 win over Cony. Had three hits in 7-3 win over Messalonskee.

Other nominations

  • Jennie Whitten- Mattanawcook- softball-  The sophomore pitched six innings allowing only one run and one walk while striking out nine plus went 4-5 with the bat, including two doubles, and five RBI in 15-1 win over Orono.
