DeShawn Stevens transferring to WVU

As announced late Monday night on his social media accounts, University of Maine linebacker DeShawn Stevens has decided to use his final two seasons of eligibility to transfer and play in the Big 12 Conference with the West Virginia Mountaineers.

The 6 foot 2, 225 pound Stevens amassed 164 tackles, 16 for loss, and 9.5 sacks in 29 career games with the Black Bears. In this past spring season, Stevens made 36 tackles in the four games that were played. At the conclusion of the season, Stevens earned First-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors. In the last full season he played (2018), he accounted for 73 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one interception. He was injured in the first game of the 2019 season and missed the rest of the year. The transfer will move Stevens from the Division IAA level (FCS) to Division 1 (FBS).
