Austin Seavey passed for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another on Saturday afternoon, as the Foxcroft Academy Ponies improved their record to 2-0 in the early season with a 41-20 Class D high school football win over Oak Hill at Oak Hill High School in Sabattus.
Oak Hill (0-1) had a pair of first half leads and struck first four minutes in when Tiger Hopkins ran one into the endzone from seven yards out for a 6-0 advantage. Foxcroft came right back when Seavey found one of his favorite targets Caden Crocker for a 27 yard scoring play, and with the extra point it was 7-6 Ponies. The Raiders took their final lead of the day when quarterback Jackson Arbour found Hopkins for his second TD from 13 yards out on the first play of the second quarter to make it 12-7 Oak Hill. Crocker though scored on a 10 yard run just 3:39 later, breaking several tackles and finding paydirt. The guests finished the half scoring 21 unanswered as Seavey also scored on a short one yard QB keeper with 2:12 left, and then Gage Beaudry scored on a 37 yard screen pass on the final play of the second quarter to increase it to 28-12 at the break.
Oak Hill got back within eight when Maverick Swan ran for a 51 yard touchdown early in the third quarter, and Caden Thompson converted a two-point run. Foxcroft put it away though with the final two scores of the game with 6:25 and 3:34 left in the third on two yard runs by both Jesse Drury and Beaudry.
Seavey was 18-23 passing for 277 yards and two touchdowns, also adding eight carries for 32 yards and a score. Drury led the backfield with eight rushes for 46 yards and a touchdown, and also hit 5-6 on extra points. Crocker had five catches for 103 yards and a score, and also added a TD on the ground (3 carries, 18 yards). Beaudry had two touchdowns in the game as well and also led the defense with nine tackles. Arbour was 4-7 passing for 72 yards and a touchdown in the loss for Oak Hill. Thompson had 21 carries for 102 yards, while Swan added 60 yards on the ground with the long touchdown and 48 yards receiving on one catch. Foxcroft is back at home next Friday to host 2-0 Freeport, while Oak Hill is at Lisbon next Saturday afternoon.
