It is never easy to replace your leading scorer, the Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates will look to do that this season under first year coach Mitchel Noyes. PCHS will look to Matt Chadbourne for senior leadership.

“The Pirates lost three starters including our top scorer (Kobe Gilbert). We are hoping to get back into the playoffs with an experienced roster, only having two freshman, Riley Snowden and Gaige Tracy,”Noyes said. “We are returning two key starters in brothers Matt Chadbourne (senior) and Scott Chadbourne (sophomore) who provide overall basketball IQ and leadership on and off the court.”

The Pirates have five seniors, including Chadbourne. Alex Lyon and Buddy Hutchins will be key players near the basket. Senior Trevor Hathorn returns for his senior season after missing the 2020/2021 season. Senior Jacob Beckwith, juniors Ty Cobb, Dawson Simpson, Gabe Soctomah and sophomore Ben Higgins round out the roster.

“Each guy will  contribute to the team. I am excited to see where this season takes us.” Noyes said

PCHS will open the season at home against Greenville on December 10th. Eastern Maine Sports Media will have live coverage of the PCHS games at home against PVHS on December 16th, Dexter on January 31st, Valley on February 3rd, and at Central on January 20th.
