PCHS starts quick and rolls to girls basketball win over Lee

GUILFORD— The Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates went on an 18-0 run in the first half and rolled to a 52-26 win over Lee Academy on Saturday afternoon.

Elizabeth Kendall and Kendall Kimball each made a basket to give the Pirates a quick 4-0 lead. Harmony Vermazani made a three pointer to cut the Pandas deficit to 4-3, but PCHS followed that up with the big run that extended into the second quarter as they took a commanding 22-3 lead. Lee outscored  PCHS 10-4 the rest of the half to cut the deficit to 26-13 heading into halftime.

Elizabeth Kendall scored 11 of her game high 22 points in the third quarter as the Pirates outscored Lee 19-4 and took a 45-17 lead heading into the final quarter.

Sydney Hutchins also finished in double figures for the Pirates with 10 points, while Kendall Kimball added eight, and Abbey Ricker chipped in with six. PCHS (4-2) is scheduled to host Stearns on Monday night. Kendall earned the Bangor Savings Bank player of the game. 

Aubrey Gifford scored 19 points to lead the Pandas. Lee (1-5) is scheduled to host Schenck on Monday.
