January 10, 2022

At TD Garden in Boston, Jayson Tatum tied the game with a jumpshot with 1.8 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the Boston Celtics would top the Indiana Pacers 101-98 in overtime.

Boston (20-21) never trailed over the first three quarters leading by as many as 12, before Indiana (15-26) made a fourth quarter rally. The Pacers took their first lead on a Domantas Sabonis layup with 5:54 to go, and led by four on two different occasions in the final 1:17 of the fourth quarter. Robert Williams III cut it to 89-87 with two free throws with 34.6 seconds left, and after an Indiana miss with 15 seconds remaining Tatum would send the game to the extra session. The Celtics built a five point lead in overtime on a Grant Williams three-pointer, and after the Pacers cut it to one with three seconds showing on the clock Tatum hit two free throws to push it back to three. Indiana never got a chance at a tying shot as Williams III picked off a bad pass for a turnover to end it. Jaylen Brown led Boston with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists. Tatum finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds. The two teams play again in Indiana Wednesday night.
