Southern Aroostook boys cruise to quarterfinal win

BANGOR- The second seeded Southern Aroostook Warriors got 21 points from Dylan Burpee and 18 from Hunter Burpee on Monday, and ran past the Katahdin Cougars 81-39 in a Class D boys North quarterfinal game at the Cross Insurance Center.

# 7 seed Katahdin scored the first basket of the game, but then didn’t score again until there was just over five minutes left in the second quarter. Southern Aroostook went on a 24-0 run and led 43-9 at the break with Hunter Burpee and Dylan Burpee leading the way with 12 and 11 points respectively. The Warriors would continue the onslaught in the second half, leading by as many as 49 and setting up a semifinal matchup with Schenck on Thursday.

Dylan Burpee added three rebounds and two assists to his game high point total, as So. Aroostook improves to 17-1 on the season. Hunter Burpee had eight rebounds. Graham Siltz and Camden Porter also scored in double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively. Drake Weston had nine points, and Chris Caswell chipped in six. Grady Ritchie had 12 points for Katahdin, while Justin Hurlbert had nine. The Cougars end their season at 10-10. Southern Aroostook outrebounded Katahdin 28-16. The Warriors went 16-19 from the foul line, while the Cougars were 7-9.
