Makayla Anderson and Alisyn Alley power Stearns to quarterfinal win

BANGOR— Stearns scored the first 15 points and never looked back in a 61-27 win over Sumner in a Class C girls basketball quarterfinal game on Tuesday night at the Cross Insurance Center.

Makayla Anderson scored 13 points in the first quarter to get things rolling for the Minutemen, who held a 23-2 lead after the first quarter. Stearns outscored Sumner 9-8 in the second quarter to take a 32-10 halftime advantage.

Anderson scored 11 points in the third quarter as Stearns outscored Sumner 21-5 and built the lead to 53-15.

Rachel Colby led the Tigers with 10 points. Sumner ends the season with a record of 11-7.

Anderson scored a game high 24 points (4 three pointers) for the Minutemen. Alisyn Alley filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, 10 rebounds, eight blocks, and five steals. Kasey Kenyon added nine points and 14 rebounds. Stearns (14-3) will play Hodgdon in a semifinal game on Friday afternoon at 3:30.
