BANGOR— Bryce Burns (24) and Simon Allen (23) combined for 47 points to power Central to a 63-45 win over Woodland in a Class C boys basketball quarterfinal game played Wednesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
Woodland took their only lead 3-2 on a Wyatt MacArthur three pointer. Central went on a 9-1 run and to take an 11-4 lead. The Dragons evened things up with a 7-0 run. The Red Devils held a 16-13 advantage after the first quarter behind 10 points from Burns.
Central built the lead to 26-15 late in the second quarter. The Red Devils held a 28-18 halftime behind 28 combined points from Burns (15) and Allen (13),
Central made 3 three-pointers in the third quarter and held a 43-31 advantage heading into the final eight minutes. Allen and Lucas Gustin combined to go 7-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help secure the win for the Red Devils.
MacArthur scored a team high 18 points for the Dragons. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Shain McIver and Ethan Monk added 11 points each. Woodland finishes the season with a record of 15-4.
Burns added six rebounds and five assists to go along with his game high point total. Allen had 4 three-pointers, three rebounds, and two assists. Central (12-8) will play a semifinal game on Friday night at 8:30 PM.
