BANGOR— The Wisdom Pioneers went on a 25-0 run that started in the first quarter and extended until the third quarter as they rolled to a 61-25 win over Machias in a Class D girls basketball semifinal game played Thursday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Bulldogs held their last lead (11-9) late in the first quarter. Abbie Lerman evened up the score when she took a pass from Lilly Roy and put in a layup to beat the first quarter buzzer.
The Pioneers scored all 20 points of the second quarter and capped the run with a Roy three pointer early in the third quarter.
Kristen Grant and Jaydin Anderson scored six points each to lead the Bulldogs. Anderson also had nine rebounds. Machias finishes the season with a record of 14-5.
Roy scored a game high 21 points for the Pioneers, and she also had nine rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Lerman added 18 points, five assists. Olivia Ouellette had 14 points and 17 rebounds. Wisdom (17-1) will play Southern Aroostook in the Class D regional final on Saturday morning at 9 AM.
