Southern Aroostook wins 3rd girls basketball state title in four years

AUGUSTA— Southern Aroostook scored the first 43 points and rolled to a 58-18 win over Seacoast Christian in the Class D girls basketball state championship game played Saturday afternoon at the Augusta Civic Center.

Cami Shields led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors. Madison Shields added 12 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Madison Russell filled up the stat sheet with six points, eight rebounds, eight steals, and six assists. Lexi Russell and Callie Russell each had six points for the Warriors. It is the 3rd state title in the past four seasons for Southern Aroostook (22-0) and their fifth overall. The win was number 200 in Warriors Coach Cliff Urquhart’s career.

Ellie Leach led the Guardians with 10 points and eight rebounds. Seacoast Christian finishes the season with a 13-7 record.
