Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the past athlete of the week winners.
This week we had four Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Molly Sipple had a huge track meet for PCHS at Foxcroft Academy. Sipple finished first in three events. It is the second athlete of the week honor for Sipple.She also earned the honor on April 25th, 2021.
April 24th-April 30th
- Molly Sipple- PCHS- track – at a meet at Foxcroft Academy, Sipple finished 1st in 400m- 1:11.64, 1st in 300 hurdles- 57.24, and 1st Discus- 80-08 (provisional qualifying for State meet)
Runner up
- Lane Barron – Bangor – softball- went 5-5 with a double, homer, four runs scored, and five RBI plus earned the win in the circle, allowing just one hit and one run, while striking out six in 20-1 win over Old Town.
Other nominations
- Sage Reed- Lawrence- softball- pitched a one hitter with 16 strikeouts and five walks in 4-1 win over Messalonskee.
- Harly Pomerleau- Winslow- softball- went 4-4 with two runs scored and one RBI in 10-4 win over MCI.
