Molly Sipple earns female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 331 past athlete of the week winners.

This week we had four Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Molly Sipple won two events in her first ever high school track meet. The PCHS sophomore is the 11th student/athlete from her school to be named athlete of the week. She joins Alex Speed (4) (10-25-14), Lindsey Morrill (10-20-11), Abby Burdin (4-29-12), Delani Bennett (2) (1-5-15), Erin Speed (3) (10-15-16), Bryce Gilbert (9) (2-11-18), Jordynne LIttlefield (6-13-16), Dillion Drew (10-23-17), Cameron Kane (5-6-18), and Kobe Gilbert (9) (3-8-21).

Female athlete of the week- April 18th- April 24th

  • Molly Sipple- PCHS- Track- placed 1st in the 100m, with a time of 14.13, qualifying her her for PVCs, and provisionally for States. She also took 1st in the 800m, with a time of 2:51.10, and 6th in shot put with a throw of 24-00.75. Sipple was part of a relay team that finished second In the 4x100m.

Runner up

  • Kaelyn Parks- Central- softball- Allowed  only one hit, while striking out 10 and not issuing a walk in 4.2 innings in the circle and also had a run scoring hit in 5-0 win over Mattanawcook.

Other nominations

  • Cam Neal- Hampden – three hits, including a triple, two RBI, and two stolen bases in 12-0 win over Belfast. Hit a two run homer in 7-6 loss to Messalonskee.
  • Jaycee Christopher- Skowhegan- had two doubles in 11-1 win over Nokomis.
