On Saturday October 1st, the Sumner Tigers and Central Red Devils played to a 2-2 tie in double OT. Sumner would strike first with a goal from Billy Wray on a header over the Central keeper Nicholas Masters on a cross from Aiden Griffen with 6:40 left in the first half. The Tigers would take a 2-0 lead just 1:15 into the second half on another goal from Wray as he put a shot to the right of Masters as he came out to make a play on the ball. The Red Devils would finally get on the board when Jakson Pollock put a ball to the right of Sumner keeper Angel Velencia with 11:48 left in the second half. Central tied the game with 5:06 left in regulation when Hayden Strout knocked it into the net as several players from both teams were trying to win the ball inside the six yard box, eventually sending the game to overtime.
Sumner controlled the play in the first overtime, and both teams had a couple of chances in the second overtime but neither team was able to put the ball in the net.
For Sumner (5-3-1) Velencia made 14 saves on 24 shots, and for Central (4-4-2) Masters made seven saves on 12 shots.
Sumner will next play at Machias on Tuesday, and Central will host Orono on that same day
