Dexter wins PVC golf championship

The PVC end of the year Regional Qualifying Tournament was held on Thursday September 29, 2022 at JATO Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Maine. There were 15 teams in attendance and over 80 golfers.

The Dexter Regional High School Golf team finished in 1st place with a team total 346. The team was led by Chase Farnsworth with an 80. Brady Reynolds shot an 88. Ethan Doherty and Will Kusnierz both added scores of 89. Ben Bourgoin shot a 91 and Cole Doherty shot a 109.

Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln came in second place with a team total of 361. Carson Munoson who was named Male PVC Player of the year led Mattanawcook and was low scorer of the day with a 79. Brayden Irish shot a 80. They also added a 95 from Andrew Oliver and a 107 from James Trott and Abby Theriault. Molly Graham of Mattanawcook Academy was named Female PVC Player of the Year.

George Stevens Academy (GSA) came in third place with a team score of 368. Patrick Dagan shot an 80, Robbie Bennett a 88, Riley Astbury a 94. Brockett Muir a 101 and Brady Pert a 106.

Dexter, Mattanawcook and GSA all qualified to compete at the Maine Principals Association State Golf Tournament on Saturday October 8 at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro, Maine.

Dexter Regional High School golf coach Jim Costedio was named PVC Coach of the Year, after leading the Tigers back to the State Golf Championships two years in a row.
