Husson weekend recap- Field Hockey, men’s and women’s soccer stay unbeaten in conference play

The Husson Eagles Field Hockey team along with the men’s and women’s soccer teams all stayed unbeaten in conference play over the weekend as the regular season winds down.

At Thomas College in Waterville on Sunday- The Husson Field Hockey team got their second win in just over a week over the Thomas College Terriers. Freshman Maddie Perkins scored a pair of goals, one in the first quarter and one in the third and Kayla Harvey also tallied one in the third quarter as well as part of a 3-0 victory. Goaltender Kimmie Goddard made 10 saves for her fifth shutout of the season. Brennan Pinto made eight stops in the loss for TC, who falls to 5-7 and 2-2 in the NECC. The Eagles improve to 7-5, 4-0 in the conference with two regular season games remaining that includes a road trip to play New England College on Saturday at 11 a.m.

At Northern Vermont-Lyndon on Saturday- Will Feldman, Arni Hreidarsson, and Carlos Etchevers each scored a goal as the Husson men’s soccer team shutout the NVU-Lyndon Hornets 3-0. Alex Rechsteiner made three saves in net for his sixth shutout on the year. Brett Roy made five saves in the loss for Lyndon, who dropped to 1-10-1 and 0-8-0 in the NAC. On Sunday in Henniker, New Hampshire- Domingo Infante scored a game winning goal with 2:16 left in regulation as Husson completed a two game weekend sweep by topping New England College 2-1 in a non-conference game. Patricio Raygadas had the tying goal for the Eagles late in the first half, and Rechsteiner made three saves. The Pilgrims got a goal from Connor Manteau and 10 saves from goalie Logan Clough in falling to 5-7-1. Husson is now 11-3-1 overall (7-0-1 in NAC) and host Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday in the regular season finale.

At Northern Vermont-Lyndon on Saturday- The Husson women’s soccer team used five different goal scorers in a 5-0 win over the NVU-Lyndon Hornets. Charlotte Messer had the game winner and seventh of the season at 10:39 of the first half. Camryn Rolfe, Marila Corletto, Natalie Aviolla, and Madi Griffin had the other goals as the Eagles improved to 8-6-1 and 7-0-1 in the NAC. Madison Weigler was in net but didn’t face a single shot on goal. Karly Cordwell made 14 saves as the Hornets fell to 2-9-1, 1-6-0 in the conference. Husson plays their final regular season game against Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday in Bangor.
