Noah Carpenter and Dayton Calder combined to account for six touchdowns on Saturday afternoon, in leading the Leavitt Hornets to a 46-6 victory over the Medomak Valley Panthers in the Class C state title football championship game played at Cameron Stadium in Bangor.
Leavitt (11-0) jumped out to a commanding 24-0 halftime lead on a pair of Calder touchdown runs, one by Carpenter, and then a Carpenter pass to Sawyer Hathaway who tossed a lateral pass to Beau Mayo for an eight yard score. Carpenter added a 60 yard touchdown run in the third quarter, tossed a 40 yard TD to Brett Coburn, and Hathaway also had a scoring run. Medomak Valley got their lone score of the day on a Hayden Staples seven yard run with 4:59 left in the game. The Panthers finished a great season at 9-3 in just their seventh year as a varsity program and competing in the state game for the first time ever.
