MCI boys basketball 2022/2023 preview

December 6, 2022
Maine Central Institute/Boys Basketball
Head Coach: Eric Day
Asst. Coach: Mitchell Hallee
2021-22 Record: 4-14

Expectations: “Expect to have a hard working group that plays aggressively. We will also be implementing a different scheme that we hopefully get more comfortable in as the year progresses,” Day said. “The expectation is that we get better each and every day so that we can legitimately compete late in the season and have an opportunity to play in Bangor.”

Strengths: “Our biggest strength will be our depth, athletic ability, and experience,” Day said. “We will have 12 players that will play crucial minutes for us this year, with little to no drop-off from player 1 to 12. In addition, the majority of those players all played valuable varsity minutes for us last year.”

Weaknesses: “While we will have an athletic and quick team, we lack overall size,” Day said. “We will need to play aggressive and physical in order to rebound and limit opportunities for our opponents.”

Key Returning Players:
Captains: Kyle Hall, Owen Moore, and Cole Allen; and Seniors: Braydon Fitts, Carter Bubar, and Braeden Kennedy

Key newcomers:
Logan Washburn, Drew Shorey, Lucas Llagostera

Schedule: MCI opens the season at home against Orono. That came can be seen live on Eastern Maine Sports Media. The Huskies will play at Winslow on December 13th and host Waterville on December 16th.
