Freshman Karleigh Smith scored 23 points to lead Woodland to a 51-38 win over Jonesport-Beals in girls basketball action on Monday night.
Brooke Smith added 15 points, while Nicole Cox recorded nine points, six steals, four rebounds, and four blocks. Woodland (1-0) will play at Mattanawcook on Tuesday night.
Rachel Crowley led the Royals with 12 points, while Mary McDonald added 10. Jonesport-Beals (0-2) will play at Calais on Thursday.
